Brooklyn Public Library updates its online catalog with ChiliPAC

Olathe, KS. – June 12 2019 – Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) in cooperation with ChiliFresh Enterprises has launched Innovative's Encore discovery platform enhanced with ChiliPAC, thus being one of the first libraries in the United States to provide fully customized user profiles and booklist functionality integrated into their online catalog's search results. With ChiliPAC integrated into Brooklyn Public Library's online catalog, library staff and users have the ability to create, curate and share their reading interests on a global scale. ChiliPAC transforms the library's online catalog into a truly organic readers advisory, connecting people based on literary interest and habits.

Selvon Smith, Vice President Information Technology at Brooklyn Public Library:

"We are continuously looking for ways to engage our community through innovative enhancements to our online presence. During the time since we launched our new enhanced catalog, we have seen increased engagement from users and staff and have received tremendous feedback from our community. Booklists have become a fantastic way for us to showcase our staff's expertise in reader recommendations to our patrons. Our patrons have also embraced the creation and sharing of booklists as they realize that they can share their interests with other library users around the world.

With ChiliPAC we are also able to get more angles of analytics that are helping us to make conclusions and provide more relevant content and staff advisory to our community. There are currently over 23 thousand booklists created by users and staff, with more than 400 new booklists created on a monthly basis.

Working with ChiliFresh to bring this new functionality to our Encore catalog has been and continues to be a productive and rewarding experience. We have been able to influence the development of the platform that benefits other libraries in United States and around the world. When we went live, our customers didn't even miss a beat. All user information, bookshelves and booklists that had been created in our previous catalog were uploaded to the ChiliPAC platform which gave our community the continuity we needed for a smooth transition."

Scott Johnson, President and CEO of ChiliFresh says:

"Brooklyn Public Library is a recognized leader in the library world and we are honored to partner with such a forward thinking and progressive organization in the development and refinement of ChiliPAC, our new Enhanced Discovery Platform. By ensuring that staff and users can easily connect and share from right inside the online catalog, we are confident that we are playing a role in keeping the public library at the center of the community."
