| Very entertaining | August 10, 2011 |

Story of a princess who learns on her 16th birthday she has been a stand-in for the true one whose life was in danger. I really liked the relationship between her(Sinda) and Kiernan, her best friend, and how she discovers her true self and her talents-magic! Very entertaining and a quick summer's read.

On her 16th birthday, the princess Nalia finds out that she is not who she thought. She is the false princess, set in place to protect the real princess from a threat on her life. Now known as Sinda and immediately sent from the castle to a relative she doesn't know, she must adapt and come to terms with what her life has become. The only problem is things aren't as simple as that. She quickly finds the spell that made people think she was the princess also dampened natural magic she has. Now she needs to learn to control it and learn a whole new life. I liked this because it was fresh and had a lot of plot turns that were unexpected. Sinda is a strong girl who wants to do what's right. You also get a feel for the whole loss of identity and sense of betrayal she feels. There are complicated relationships, and in all it's a well written book, especially for a first novel.

| Excellent read | July 20, 2011 |

When I first started this book my hopes weren't very high. However, when the first bomb is dropped on Sinda, I was hooked. The characters were engaging and you could tell they were growing as the story progressed. There were times I wanted to jump into the story and shake Sinda, keep her from doing something foolish, but it's a reaction that means I'm relating to the character, that I care. I cannot wait to see what more Eilis O'Neal writes as "The False Princess" was an amazing start.

I enjoyed reading this book. The plot was different enough that it kept me engaged. I liked the characters, especially Kiernan, but who wouldn't love a guy like that! It was a good, feel-good story, a truly fun read.

This book had everything a great story needs: A wonderful well thought out plot, great characters, great character growth and relationships, and a feel good moral. I just loved everything about this book. The plot was so riveting and so well thought out. The way everything just fit together and flowed was great. I loved Sinda's character, and I thought her reactions and thoughts were so relatable. I LOVED Kiernan. He was such a great guy, and I wish more literature had guys like him. Overall, it was wonderful.

I really liked the characters and the plot idea was grand, but the narrative kept stalling out over teenage angst and soul-searching. Some parts didn't make sense.

Sigh.
I really wanted to like this book. Frankly, I was positively begging myself to like this. It's been a LONG time since I read anything higher then medicore in what-used-to-be my favorite genre.
So i was dropped comepletely flat by this book.
The plot itself is very compelling. But soon the author falls into overworn cliches and improbable plot twists.
Particularly the ending. May I ask why the villianous whats-her-face would even leave Mika alive? Any sane criminal mastermind would just kill the girl and be done with it.
