What a great book and awesome audiobook! Neil Gaiman has talent across the board! Not only can he write, he does an excellent job narrating the story! A clever, sort of creepy way of retelling the jungle book. A must for everyone!

Sweet Story, Read WellMarch 03, 2009

I enjoyed both this story and the author's reading. Some of its themes will remind you of Harry Potter, but so much of fantasy fiction use the same roots. I could not stop listening to the story of Bod and his life and adventures in the graveyard. Young and old will enjoy this audiobook.

Not for little onesJanuary 28, 2009

As a 42 year old woman, I loved this book. But it was spooky, especially the part about the ghouls. Also the illustrations are a bit creepy. I think it would give a 10 year old nightmares. Great story though.

As soon as you read "There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife", you are sucked into the world of Nobody Owens, a boy raised in an old graveyard by Ghosts and other beings.

 A Modern classicJuly 23, 2009

A classic "children's book" in the tradition of Peter Pan or The Jungle Book. Which is to say, a classic story that will touch and challenge readers of all ages. The first three or for pages are likely to be scary for younger children, but overall they will love the book as much as the adult reading it to them. Gaiman may be the finest writer in english working today and it shows in this book.

Death: Another phase of lifeJuly 20, 2009

I had no idea what to expect. I was immediately intrigued & a bit suspicious how this book received the Newberry. Once I got past the gruesome beginning, I loved it. I loved the authors portrayal of life continuing. I loved that the dead cared for the living.

 Not as scary as Coraline!July 03, 2009
By: jennymProvo, Utah (US)
Gaiman's Coraline scared the socks off me and so I was hesitant to pick up this Newbery Winner. It was a great novel and while it was exciting and suspenseful it was definitely not 'children's horror' like I was afraid of. The book is similar to the jungle book, only the boy in the novel is being raised in a graveyard by ghosts instead of in a jungle by animals. I highly recommend this!

A fantasy world coming-of-age story that kids and adults can both enjoy. This book had great reviews and won lots of awards. It deserved them.

 scary for kidsJuly 02, 2009
By: easyreaderProvo, Utah (US)
This story of how a live boy grows up in a cemetery raised by ghosts and other creatures was a really engaging and scary story. Gaiman has a good writing style and I was emotionally attached to the story. This book won the Newbery Medal, but I thought it might be too scary for young children.

 a must read.July 01, 2009
By: SenpieDerry, New Hampshire (US)
the graveyard book is the best of neil's books so far (my opinion) i have it on my ipod. it the best story, my favorite is when he goes to school. each chapter is a new story about a boy named bod, (short for nobody owens) as he grows up in a grave yard and raised by ghost. (and most likly his gardian is a vampire... my guess, for people who are reading this and have read the book you might understand my resons for thinking this.)
